Cloisonné lapel pins are formed to a copper bronze surface and filled with a glasslike mixture. The pins are fired in a kiln to ensure the colors do not bleed. More color is added and the lapel pins are fired a second time. These steps guarantee the colors do not bleed. The lapel pins are finally hand polished to give a jewelry-like finish.
